Fullmetal Alchemist
Die Animeserie „Fullmetal Alchemist“ spielt in einer Steampunk-Fantasywelt, in der Alchemie wie eine Wissenschaft angewendet wird und Staatsalchemisten Teil des Militärs sind. Im Fokus stehen die Brüder Edward und Alphonse Elric, die als Kinder versucht haben, ihre tote Mutter zurückzubringen. Dabei verlor Edward während der Beschwörung seinen Arm, an dessen Stelle nun eine Metallprothese ist und Al seinen gesamten Körper, wobei seine Seele in eine Rüstung gerettet werden konnte. Auf ihren actionreichen Abenteuern durch eine von politischen Machtkämpfen gebeutelten Welt suchen sie nach dem Stein der Weisen, der ihnen erlauben würde, ihre Originalkörper zurückzubekommen.
Sowohl Fullmetal Alchemist als auch die Folgeserie Fullmetal Alchemist:Brotherhood stammen aus dem Animationsstudio Bones. Letztere hält sich weitaus näher an die Mangavorlage von Hiromu Arakawa. Eine Live-Action-Verfilmung kam im Jahr 2017 in die japanischen Kinos.
