In der US-Serie Bored to Death spielt Jason Schwartzman einen gelangweilten Autor in seinen Mitdreißigern aus dem New Yorker Brooklyn. In der Art seiner literarischen Helden, der Figuren der Autoren Raymond Chandler und Dashiell Hammett, gelingt es ihm, einige der Fälle, die ihm angetragen werden, zu lösen - während er in anderen die Situation für die Betroffenen deutlich verschlimmert.
