Are You Afraid of the Dark?
Are You Afraid of the Dark? alias Grusel, Grauen, Gänsehaut kehrt zurück! Der Kindersender Nickelodeon will die kanadische Horrorserie wiederbeleben. Die Dreharbeiten starten im Juni 2019 in Vancouver. Ursprünglich lief die Anthologieserie von 1992 bis 1996, wurde dann aber 1999 bis 2000 schon einmal neu aufgelegt. Kreiert wurde das beliebte Format damals von D.J. MacHale und Ned Kandel.
Das neue Are You Afraid of the Dark? wird von BenDavid Grabinski (Skiptrace) und Dean Israelite (Power Rangers) geschrieben. Produziert wird das Revival von Spencer Berman (Man Seeking Woman) und Matt Kaplan (To All the Boys I've Loved Before). Als Studio fungiert derweil ACE Entertainment.
Der neue Cast besteht aus Sam Ashe Arnold (Best.Worst.Weekend.Ever.), Miya Cech (Rim of the World), Tamara Smart (Artemis Fowl), Jeremy Taylor (It) und Lyliana Wray (Black-ish). Rafael Casal (Blindspotting) spielt Mr. Tophat, den Zirkusdirektor des Carnival of Doom.
Geplant sind drei einstündige Episoden. Die Idee der Serie lautet wie folgt:Eine Gruppe Kinder erzählt sich am Lagerfeuer gruselige Geschichten, die folglich in echt passieren.
